So, I survived Day 1 of the Quote a Day Challenge, and here I am on Day 2. As any of you who have searched for quotes know, there are so many funny, inspirational, life-affirming, pithy quotes on the Internet. How do I select just three? Thank you to Pearls & Grit for nominating me. It has been a learning experience.

Today, I wanted a science-related quote. In another part of my life, I was a science teacher. I still love science-y books, stories and pictures. I researched Stephen Hawking recently for a blog post on time, and found his dry sense of humor appealing. Dr. Hawking could only communicate very slowly and with difficulty, so it must have been a great effort for him to inject humor into his writing. I was tempted to use his quote “Women. They are a complete mystery.”, (Haha, Dr. Hawking!) but chose the following quote instead. This quote captures my feeling about science exactly.
